A worldwide phenomenon originating in Taiwan has come to Chester. Bubble tea is a unique, new drink to the UK and has been a big hit in major cities around the country during 2015. Now Bloop has opened the first bright and exciting Bloop Bubble Tea cafe experience in Frodsham Street and is already causing quite a stir.

This type of drink has been popular in the Far East since the 1980s and can be served hot or cold, milky or fruity, drink in or take out. Over 30 flavours with endless combinations are served by Bloop including fruits like blueberry and grape, mango and coconut. More traditional flavours like matcha green tea with tapioca ‘bubbles’ are also proving to be just as popular at the Chester shop.

Young female entrepreneur Kala Krishnan has gained investment from the Dragon Fund* enabling her to open in Chester and is excited about adding this exciting concept to the City’s small shops and business scene.

Founder and director Kala Krishnan said; “Bubble tea has been a best seller in Asia since the 1980s and is now becoming so in the UK. In particular, tourists are seeking out the shop and visitors love the combination of flavours and textures possible with the teas.” She added; “I’m really pleased and proud to be able to bring the concept to Chester with plans for Bangor and Blackpool too. It is a brilliant alternative to the coffee shops here. It should really shake things up, literally!”
