Jane has been involved with the Managing Partners’ Forum* for over 15 years, finding it a useful benchmark for business related to partnerships and in particular the legal sector.
The Forum knows the power of surveys and regularly conduct a quarterly survey typically answered by 98% of those asked – both UK mostly-legal practices and US based firms with a UK presence. Today it presented findings for Summer 2025. The Forum is just about to launch a new Thought Leadership and Competitor Toolkit.

- Challenge& support is the most common management style, involving effective communication and getting the best from the team
- Confidence is steady, with headcount not expected to expand as fast as activity levels
- Fee pressures are increasing and margins eroding as the economic climate worsens, yet
- Operational efficiency and increased use of technology are management’s top priorities;
- Partners focus on finance and cash flow; and
- The perceived ‘on-track’ gap between the firm and its key clients is expanding
- More people are back in the office with a limited impact on productivity
- Innovation and training are seen as the most important themes, yet best practice is not fully implemented for any theme
- Most rate their firm ahead of its peers…
