Chester Performs
Chester Performs was the organisation tasked with keeping Chester’s arts scene active between the closure of Chester’s Odeon Cinema and Gateway Theatre and the arrival of Storyhouse. Marketing PRojects supported events and added PR and multimedia.
“We were recommended Marketing Projects as an organisation that could work with us to launch Chester Performs in Spring 2007 and handle public and press relations beyond this.
The launch event was a big success with press and multimedia there. We’d aimed for 40 attendees and 44 came, 40% of our invited guests, a mix of interested dignitaries and the key arts and performance professionals across the North West. Marketing Projects was responsible for all liaisons with guests and the press, their attendance and the running of the event. It went very smoothly and we received much praise afterwards.
Their PR activities following covered two areas for us; our programme of events and the new Performing Arts Centre planned for the city, a sensitive development project. We were particularly pleased with the front page, in depth article in the Chester Chronicle for the revised plans for the new Centre. Also, their ability to gain local press coverage, often at short notice, to maximise event attendance. They use their own photos too, which saves costs.
From 2009 we will have our own in-house PR function with a new strategy manager, a measure of Marketing Projects’ ability to demonstrate the importance of PR. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who needed effective PR and marketing support.”
