Cheshire videographer, Brian Edwards is to retire after sixty years working in the media and will continue to pass on his vast knowledge and experience to the media team at Marketing PRojects, a Cheshire and London based PR and marketing company.

Well known at special events in and around Chester City Centre, Brian may have hung up his cameras, however he will remain as a consultant with Marketing PRojects, having collaborated on many projects spanning the last 20 years. The ongoing partnership will ensure that Brian’s array of professional broadcasting equipment enhances Marketing Projects existing video service for recording corporate and individual events. Their longstanding relationship has produced a back catalogue of videos that showcases many important and significant events in Chester, Cheshire and the North West since 2005 to the present day.

Starting out in an apprenticeship with BBC in Bristol, Brian worked in a variety of positions, giving him a strong grasp of the industry, before working exclusively as a cameraman in the BBC Studios in London, and later moving to the BBC Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham for 20 years.

Brian will also assist trainees at Marketing PRojects to operate the video transfer deck to produce from old film formats video that can be viewed with today’s devices. The equipment can digitise video and photo formats such as Standard and Super 8mm &16mm film, 35mm slides or VHS tapes. Marketing PRojects has already started to receive enquiries for providing Christmas presents of footage from significant or nostalgic events transformed into modern formats.

Brian Edwards said, “It has been such an honour working behind the camera that has taken me around the world including producing educational videos for Open University on geology and oceanography several times in Kenya. I am not as mobile these days, yet I want to be able to pass on my experience and passion to young people in the industry. I am delighted to have the chance to carry on being part of a team and in particular passing on old tricks to talented young professionals like Mark, who leads on media at the Marketing PRojects. You will still see me out and about in Chester videoing our great city with my smartphone instead.”

Jane Harrad-Roberts, Managing Director Marketing PRojects said, “We are so pleased that Brian wants to keep his hand in by helping Marketing PRojects because we and our clients really value his knowledge and expertise in producing videos for corporate use or to promote business products and services. Video is a fantastic way of showcasing businesses. These days, the play button is becoming the most compelling ‘call to action’ button on websites. Research has found that using the word ‘video’ in an email subject line can boost open rates by recipients by a massive 79%.”
